In school I mugged up phrases like 'Think before you speak' and 'Action speaks louder than words'. As I grew older and went to college, I saw people fighting over and saying 'How you can do such a thing, you promised to be good ', 'Look what you have done. You yourself took a step forward and are now backing up '. When that was not enough I entered the corporate world. (Ha so unlike the name, thought people co-operate in it :)) No one is satisfied. 'My manager promised me a promotion and nice appraisal, I was so appreciated for my work but due to business needs it can’t happen', these are the words from the employees at the end of a year's hard work. Anyways moved on, started taking household responsibilities and am seeing inflation rise like hell. Switch on the idiot box and find the politicians promising 'We shall overcome. The prices will reduce in the next budget' No wonder year after year the cost of living has increased.
I found myself surrounded by hypocrites in one or the other form. I always wondered that what traits differentiate them from the ones who go by what they say. I still don’t have the answer with me. Everyone wants to be known as the Mr Good Guy. So they find it easier to make false promises, show concern over all the grave issues and pretend to be what they are not. Who has the time to question them and memory to remember what they said. At the end of it all I feel people believing in
'Aisee Vani Boliye, Mun Ka Aapa Khoye
Apna Tan Sheetal Kare, Auran Ko Sukh Hoye '
I feel angry at times and think 'Why are you acting so sweet when you are sour inside Mr.Good Guy'. But then I and others like me feel -
'Kabira Teri Jhompri Gal Katiyan Ke Paas
Jo Karenge So Bharenge Tu Kyon Bhayo Udaas'.
Honestly I would love to see the world believing in
'Jab Tun Aaya Jagat Mein, Log Hanse Tu Roye
Aise Karni Na Kari, Pache Hanse Sab Koye'
